Cam-out Automation

Cam-Out grinding is a process that shapes the regulating wheel to a specific cam so that the regulating wheel is no longer round and will have a cut out for the part to drop out after one revolution. A part is inserted at the low point in the wheel and as it rotates the part is pushed into the grinding. It continues to grind as the wheel rotates until it reaches the cut out in the regulating wheel where it drops out. This releases the wheels and allows for a new part to be put in to be ground. This eliminates the need to lift the leadscrew handle every time a new part is inserted .

This is the process of choice by aero space industries, and has been used for many years for parts that do not require a lot of material to be removed.
